European Sustainable Development Week 2024
28 September 2024 – MENDELU Run
The seventh edition of the MENDELU Run took place in the Mendel University Arboretum. Traditionally, children's races for children and youth up to 14 years old were held. The runs were divided into 4 categories according to age. In the second part of the event, the Main 4 lap race for students and staff and the race for family members were held. There was also a relay race.
3 October 2024 – Vegetable salad tasting at Faculty of Horticulture
Visitors to the event had the opportunity to taste 17 different salads that combined familiar and less common types of vegetables with other unusual ingredients. The preparation was carried out by students under the guidance of Ing. Aleš Jezdinský, Ph.D. from the Department of Vegetable Growing and Floriculture of the Faculty of Horticulture.
The salads inspired many participants and at the end they had the opportunity to vote for the three most delicious salad creations. From a total of 211 votes, the following winning salads were evaluated:
- place: Carrot salad
- place: Celery salad
- place: Salad of lettuce
This popular event, which regularly takes place during the harvest season, provides visitors with a great opportunity to taste unusual types of vegetables or discover new ways of processing traditional crops. Each salad was original not only because of the creativity and combination of ingredients, but also because of the final presentation.
19 October 2024 - Open Day at the University enterprise Masaryk Forest in Křtiny
Visitors can follow in the footsteps of shrubs and trees in typical autumn colours during popular guided tours or discover the mysterious world of fungi during field lectures. They will be guided by experts from the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology. A new feature in the arboretum this autumn is an ecological composting toilet.
